Electroylsis
What is Electrolysis?
Electrolysis is a hair removal treatment. A trained electrologist inserts a thin wire into the hair follicle under the surface of the skin. An electric current moves down the wire to the bottom of the follicle, destroying the hair root. The follicle damage prevents hair from growing and causes the existing hair to fall out.
Electrolysis is the only method approved by the FDA for permanent removal for unwanted hair. As the hair is treated, regrowth is prevented rather than just temporarily removal. Only electrolysis provides both hair removal and hair elimination for every skin type and color, hair type, and almost all areas of the body.
Commonly Treated Areas:
Chin
Jawline
Eyebrows
Neck
Sides of the Face
Underarms
Upper Lip
Chest/Breasts
Abdomen
Bikini Area
Fingers and Toes
Causes of Hair Growth
Typical hair growth is caused by irritation or anything that draws blood circulation to the skins surface, (e.g. rubbing, waxing, tweezing.)
Systemic hair growth is internal or a hormonal imbalance due to medications or disease.
Genetic hair growth is an excess hair trait which is inherited.
PCOS
If you have been diagnosed with PCOS Electrolysis is going to be the best option for you. PCOS is a genetically-caused hormone imbalance that results in the increase of testosterone production. Elevated testosterone levels can then lead to the increase in hair growth. Facial hairs are often exacerbated by tweezing and waxing creating more blood flow in the area which can create more hair growth. Electrolysis works by destroying the hair at the follicle giving you that smooth face you deserve.

FAQs
What is the difference between electrolysis and laser hair removal?
Electrolysis is best for hormonally triggered hair, we prefer this method for facial hair because it is a permanent solution. Once a follicle is completely destroyed a hair will no longer be able to grow. Electrolysis works on light, or white hairs and can be done on all skin types.
Laser hair removal is a form of hair reduction. It doesn't completely removal all of the hairs in the treated area, but can soften or lighten the hair. The laser can also put a big percentage of the hairs into a dormant stage of hair growth, which mean the hairs will not grow unless they have a hormonal change. A hormonal change such as changing or starting birth control, pregancy, menopause or even a menstrual cycle can start the hair growth process again . This is a great option for large and/or dense areas of the body. Laser hair removal can only be done on hairs with pigment.
How long should I schedule my electrolysis appointment?
This depends on how much hair you have, and how large the area is. It takes about 1 hour to remove 500-700 hairs for our electrologist. Appointments are typically 15-60 mins.
We recommend scheduling a consultation, so our electrologist can give you a more specific treatment plan.
Do I need to shave before my appointment?
No! You want to have 2-3 days of growth in the area being treated, so it is long enough to grab with tweezers. You also want to avoid plucking the hairs in between appointments, so that our electrologist can get each hair in the right stage of growth.
Is it safe to do facials before or after an electrolysis appointment for facial hair?
It is better to do a skincare treatment before your appointment. Sometimes this can make your electrolysis experience better to have fresh, hydrated, exfoliated skin to prep it for treatments.
